life.
Taking dowry is equivalent to killing a girl and reasonable
citizens of India
Who keep mum over these social issues are nothing but partisans of
these kind of crimes.
I feel India is worst hit by the demon of dowry and this system
just sucks the quality of life of a female.
First of all because of poverty, poor parents are afraid to bring a
girl child in this world. Secondly, due to the curse of dowry required for
marriage, they are further forced to not let a girl child even take birth into
this world.
Some girls in India are left either unmarried or they are forced to
marry men double their age, if their parent don’t have dowry for their
marriage.
This social demon makes people think of their girl-child as a
burden on the family. And let me remind you here, that leaving a few educated
families, even the wealthy and rich people still think of girl child as a
burden only. They think that girls cannot give surnames to their family names
in future, hence they are of no use. Girls are often treated as outsider in
their own family, if they are unable to get married at the right age.
Due to all these circumstances, some girls even commit suicide.
They cannot bear this pain and trauma given by world.
Dowry system was initially established as a gift for a girl at her
marriage given by the parents, out of love.
But now all definitions are changed and it has become a curse for
those girls and their parents who are not able to full-fill the demands of the
greedy groom side. Much often we hear news about girl been beaten or burned alive
by the groom's side because the girl could not suffice their demands for dowry.
As a responsible citizen of India I would like to plead to all the
people to stop DOWRY as much as you can and stand up to save a
girl's life. If you are just a mute spectator, you are nothing but
responsible for a crime, indirectly......
